Dominick May gives keynote at International Forum for Online Engineering Education

EETI faculty Dr. Dominik May gave two invited keynotes and taught one workshop at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China this summer.

In his keynote and workshop on ā€œOnline Experimentation in the Light of Engineering Education Research and Practice,ā€ Dr. May provided an overview of different research perspectives on online experimentation and connected evaluation efforts. In a connected workshop event, over 100 faculty members from several Chinese universities applied modern concepts of online experimentation to their teaching contexts.

Dr. May also gave a keynote on ā€œOnline Experimentation and MOOCs for Modern Engineering Educationā€ at the 3rd International Forum for Online Engineering Education, attended by over 300 representatives of higher education stakeholders in China and themed ā€œInformation technology facilitates first-class courses and big data serves engineering educationā€. That forum aimed to explore the in-depth integration of information technology and international engineering education and to facilitate the sharing of superior global resources in engineering education. The Forum was co-sponsored by ICEE and IKCEST – International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the Auspices of UNESCO, and organized by Xuetangx.com.

Both events took place at Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious universities in China and the host of the annual Tsinghua IIDEA-Workshop, this year under the title ā€œEngineering Education for Sustainable Developmentā€. The workshop was co-organized by the ā€˜International Centre for Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO (ICEE)ā€™, the ā€˜International Institute for Developing Engineering Academics (IIDEA)ā€™, and the ā€˜Center for Engineering Education (CEE), Institute of Education (IOE), Tsinghua Universityā€™.
