Dr. Morelock was featured as a guest speaker on the May 24, 2021 episode of the podcast “Reflective Teaching in a Digital Age,” hosted by Drs. Natasha Perova-Mello and Nicole Pitterson. In this episode, Dr. Morelock discusses the real-time data collected by EETI to understand student, staff, and faculty experiences during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also discusses lessons learned by UGA engineering faculty from UGA’s hybrid teaching model during the 2020-2021 academic year, and discusses directions for the “new normal” of engineering education.

Making sense of engineering faculty’s needs for the transition to the “new normal” of instruction is a challenging endeavor. Teaching online, face-to-face or in hybrid modes present different advantages as well as complexities. Dr. John Morelock talks to us about his experiences supporting engineering faculty during their shift to online teaching and later helping to transition to the hybrid method of instruction.
