As part of a one-day research colloquium dedicated to digitalization in education at the University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart on March 24th, 2021, Dr. May gave an overview of research activities and results in the field of online laboratories and virtual experimentation in engineering education. During his talk, Dr. May discussed the necessity to understand the research field dedicated to online experimentation as an interdisciplinary field, which looks at a diverse set of online experimentation solutions from wide range of research perspectives. He, furthermore, promoted to rather look at flexible eco-systems of online and face-to-face experimentation in the curriculum than at standalone solutions. The research colloquium covered many other topics and presentations, including a keynote on learning theory research in context with online learning and further case studies in this field.
