The COVID-19 pandemic had a sudden and significant impact on almost all aspects of daily life in the United States. In higher education, instructors and students had limited time to adapt to online learning while observing stay-at-home orders and coping with high levels of psychological and, in some cases, financial stress. To help navigate this crisis, the University of Georgia used a novel research approach, called SenseMaker®, to better understand how faculty, staff, and students in our College of Engineering are experiencing this unprecedented time of uncertainty and change. In this Ask Me Anything session, Dr. Sochacka described how she and her team used SenseMaker® to identify opportunities and early signs of risk in our community so that they could continue to deliver high quality educational programs no matter the instructional mode this crisis called for.
