David Stooksbury, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Dr. David Emory Stooksbury is a native of Atlanta and a triple dog. As an undergraduate at UGA, he studied plant genetics and earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree (B.S.A.). Additionally, he was the first at UGA to graduate with an undergraduate degree in physics and astronomy (B.S.P.A.) now called astrophysics. He continued his graduate work in agriculture earning a Master of Science (M.S.) with a major in agronomy, specializing in small grains (wheat, barley, rye) genetics and disease resistance. He also earned a Master of Applied Statistics (M.A.S.) from the Pennsylvania State University. His Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is from the University of Virginia. His research focused on agricultural climatology. Following six years on the faculty at the University of Nebraska, Dr. Stooksbury returned to UGA and has been a member of the UGA engineering faculty for more than 25 years. His primary interest in engineering education centers on how international engineering experiences impact the formation of beginning engineers. He also has an interest in the engineering educational experiences of first generation, rural students.
