Important Note about EETI Communications!
Only a select few communications will be sent to the entire CENGR and EETI member base: The initial announcement of programs, forum announcements, and announcements about funding opportunities. For other EETI events (EETIncubator, FLCs, peer mentoring, book clubs, etc.), we will only send communications to those who opt in. You can opt in one of two ways:
- Sign up to be an EETI member, which includes the ability to select which communications you wish to receive. To learn more about EETI membership and how to apply, please follow this link: https://eeti.uga.edu/eeti-membership/
- Email the contact for the event and let them know you wish to receive communications. The appropriate contact is specified in the event description on this page.
These changes have been made to reduce email clutter for EETI non-members, and as part of an effort to make the benefits of EETI membership more clear and transparent. Please email John Morelock (John.Morelock@uga.edu) if you have any questions about these changes!
About EETI
The Engineering Education Transformations Institute (EETI) in the College of Engineering provides a home for the excitement, diverse discussions, and ongoing initiatives in the area of Engineering Education. We focus on building community and shared capacity around the scholarship of teaching and learning that will allow us to improve our own teaching, innovate in our courses and curricula, and conduct empirical investigations to better understand our students’ experiences.
Participants in institute programming include faculty, staff, and students from all schools in the College. We leverage the expertise of our engineering education research faculty to contribute to the shared capacity of the group. Participation in institute activities is open and flexible – everybody is welcome to participate by just being part of the conversation or by getting involved in shared initiatives.
EETI invites all College of Engineering and School of Computing faculty, staff, and graduate students to take advantage of our events and opportunities!
EETI is currently offering the following programming.
Events and Activities
This Semester’s Programming Format
This semester, EETI is trying something new by shifting to entirely in-person operations. We have observed that in-person events are both more lively and allow more equal distribution of participation, and we consider these benefits to be essential to community-building. Zoom access may be available for some events as an accommodation for specific situations. If Zoom is the only way you would be able to attend an event, please contact the organizer of the event (specified on this page) and let them know your situation.
We will still record the forums!
Engineering Education Forums
These interactive meetings bring together faculty, staff, and students across the College and University to share ideas, hear from external presenters, and participate in capacity development activities. Lunch is provided!
The table below details the four forums that are planned for this semester.
| Date, Time, & Location* | Title & Description |
| Thursday, Feb. 19 1 – 2:30 PM Driftmier 1240 |

*Dates may be subject to change. RSVP links will be sent one week prior to each forum to the entire College of Engineering, and to EETI partners across campus who have requested to receive notifications.
If you have any questions about the forum, please email Dr. John Morelock (john.morelock@uga.edu).
EETIncubator
This semester, Dr. John Aliu will host a weekly engineering education research incubator to provide an opportunity for EETI members who are working on a specific idea in engineering education to develop their projects as part of a supportive cohort. EETIncubator sessions will be scheduled based on participants’ availability.
If you are interested in conducting research in engineering education, or attending the EETIncubator, please either (1) apply to be an EETI member and indicate you would like to receive communications about the EETIncubator, or (2) send an email to Dr. John Aliu (john.aliu@uga.edu).
Faculty Fantastic Learning Community (FLC) on Generative AI in Engineering Education
EETI will run an FLC that meets once every three weeks. The focus of this semester’s FLC will be primarily hands-on work creating materials and tools to integrate generative AI into the teaching process. This includes creations that enhance your experience as a teacher, and ways to help engineering students learn how to use AI effectively and responsibly. The FLC will meet every other week in the Driftmier Engineering Center, starting early February.
The FLC is open to all faculty, graduate students, and staff in the College of Engineering and School of Computing, and will be focused on classroom instruction. You do not need to have participated in the Fall 2025 FLC to be part of the Spring 2026 FLC!
If you were part of the Fall FLC (or expressed interest in it), you will automatically be on the mailing list for the Spring FLC. If not, please email Dr. John Morelock (john.morelock@uga.edu) to join the mailing list and receive updates!
EETI “Breakfast Brigade” (Formerly the “Peer Mentoring Meetings”)
The EETI-sponsored breakfast events are back with a new name! This is an informal space for faculty to come together at a local restaurant before work and enjoy a sense of community over a nice meal to start the day. Community mentoring naturally emerges from these chats, but the central purpose is to cultivate faculty community – hence the name change. This semester, Dr. Mike Yoder will be coordinating the events.
If you did not receive an email from Dr. Morelock that you are already on the mailing list, please email Dr. Morelock (john.morelock@uga.edu) and Dr. Yoder (myoder@uga.edu) to be added to the list and get notifications where and when the breakfasts will take place!
Accessible Course Materials Working Group
All faculty in the U.S. have a mandate to improve our course materials to meet accessibility standards by April 24, 2026. Since all faculty are going through the experience of modifying their materials, there’s no reason you need to do so alone! This working group will provide structured time to work on improving the accessibility of your course materials alongside your peers. You can share (and learn about) tips and tricks for the materials revision process, resources on accessibility best practices, and ways to solve common challenges. The working group will meet twice – once in February and once in March.
An official announcement with a scheduling poll will go out in early February.
If you have any questions, please email Dr. John Morelock (john.morelock@uga.edu) to join the mailing list and receive updates!
Annual Evaluation Writing Group
In this one-off event, EETI will provide faculty structured time and support for reflecting on and documenting last year’s achievements in a way that aligns with promotion and annual report criteria. This is hour of time set aside for participants to get into a room together, work on their annual reporting materials, and get immediate help from others in the room when their have questions. EETI will also overview some of the resources we have available to help faculty prepare their materials.
The writing group will take place Wednesday, January 21, at 3 PM in Driftmier 1217!
If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. John Morelock (john.morelock@uga.edu).
EETI Book Club
This semester, Dr. Ben Fahrman is excited to facilitate a book club for the book, Small Teaching, by James M. Lang! The book covers several small changes that busy faculty members can implement in their classes to make big impacts on students’ educational experience. The first meeting will be in late January or early February, and the book club will meet 4-5 times this semester (approximately monthly.) The meetings will take place on Fridays during the 1:15 – 2:10 class block. If you would like to join the book club (and/or get updates about when the meetings will happen), please email Dr. Fahrman at fahrman@uga.edu.
EETI Library Program
On the north wing of Driftmier’s second floor, we have a shelf filled with books related to engineering education, and College of Engineering faculty, staff, and students are free to check them out (using the check-out form on the shelf) or, for specific books, take a copy to keep. EETI is interested to continue building this library—if there is an engineering-education-related book you would like us to add, please email Dr. John Morelock (john.morelock@uga.edu) to request it.
If you would like to become a member of EETI to be featured on EETI’s website and/or receive notifications about specific events and opportunities, please apply here: https://eeti.uga.edu/eeti-membership/
