Research Interests: STEM faculty and graduate student professional development and well-being; mentorship; intersectionality; change theories; qualitative and mixed methods research designs


Dr. Jennifer S. Brown is a postdoctoral research scholar in the Elevate research team. Her research focuses on culturally responsive mentorship of faculty and graduate students, their well-being, and their professional development in STEM. She is also interested in both the student and faculty experience of women in engineering at all career stages, identifying opportunities for systemic change. She currently serves as the editorial assistant for the Journal of Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering.

 

Dr. Brown earned her Ph.D. in Engineering and Science Education and her M.S. in mechanical engineering from Clemson University in South Carolina. Prior to this, she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and modern languages (German) from the Georgia Southern University Honors College. Her engineering background is in advanced manufacturing and design.
