At this year’s ASEE Southeastern Section Annual Conference (March 9–11, 2025, Mississippi State University), our CENGR and EETI teammates represented the University of Georgia admirably to our peers and colleagues from across the region.
Sierra Milligan (pictured below), Ph.D. candidate in CMBE, presented (on behalf of co-author John Morelock) their paper “WIP: Evaluating the Impacts of an Integrated, Project-based Approach to Biomedical Engineering Laboratory Teaching.”
Jarron Gravesande (pictured below), UGA alumnus and middle-school science teacher at Providence Christian Academy in Snellville, GA, presented (on behalf of co-authors John Mativo and Ramana Pidaparti) their paper “Create Your 3D Eye: A Lesson Module for Grades 6-8 from ImageSTEAM Teacher’s Workshop.”
Alison Banka (pictured below, second from right), Lecturer in CMBE, won the ASEE Southeastern Section’s Outstanding New Teacher Award.
John Brocato (pictured below, second from right), Senior Lecturer in CMBE, won the ASEE Southeastern Section’s Tilmans-Dion Service Award, given to members who have amassed a long and distinguished record of service to the Section. John is also the ASEE Campus Representative for UGA as well as the Vice-President for Member Affairs on the ASEE Board of Directors.
Next year’s conference will be hosted by the University of Memphis, followed by Virginia Military Institute in 2027 and the University of Georgia in 2028.
